Paying administrative fines: Albanian road code Article 203
Article 203 sets the deadline for paying administrative fines, the 50% reduction for paying on time, the consequences of late payment, and how fine revenue is shared.

15 days to pay
Under paragraph 1, the offender pays the fine within 15 days from the day the fine is registered or the decision becomes final. The exception is where the Code provides for an on-the-spot fine.
50% reduction
Paragraph 2 says that in all cases where a fine is provided, it is reduced by 50% of its value if the offender pays within 15 days from the day the fine is registered or the decision becomes final.
After the deadline
- After the deadline, 2% interest is payable for each day of delay, up to one month (paragraph 1).
- If the fine is not paid or cannot be collected from the offender’s income, for drivers of motor vehicles the vehicle is detained for up to three months and then sold at auction, with the difference in lek given to the offender (paragraph 1).
Where the money goes
Under paragraph 3, 60% of fine revenue goes to the body that verified the violation, to improve the service enforcing the Code, and 40% goes to the state.
Before you pay
Article 203 does not set the amount of any specific fine; a code such as “203 §2” on a fine means Article 203, paragraph 2. You can check active unpaid fines for a plate for free on the Gjoba Alert home page. Check the exact amount to pay in the official payment channel before paying.
