No stopping and no parking: Albanian Road Code Article 156
Article 156 lists the places where vehicles may not stop or park. The fine applies for every calendar day that the violation lasts.
Updated:
No stopping or parking (paragraph 1)
- at or near level crossings and on railway or tram tracks, or so close that traffic is obstructed;
- in tunnels, underpasses, under flyovers, arches and gateways, unless signs say otherwise;
- on hill crests and bends outside built-up areas and on first-category urban roads, and near them;
- within 30 m of road signs and traffic lights where the view is blocked;
- outside built-up areas, at and near junctions; in built-up areas, less than 5 m from the edge of the crossing carriageway at junctions, unless signed otherwise;
- on pedestrian crossings, cycle lanes and their exits, and on pavements unless signed otherwise.
No parking (paragraph 2)
- double parking (with the exceptions for two-wheelers in paragraph 2/c);
- at bus, trolleybus and tram stops, and where not marked, within 15 m of the stop sign; in taxi ranks;
- in spaces reserved for vehicles of disabled people (referring to article 186) and on their ramps;
- in public transport lanes, pedestrian zones and restricted traffic zones for unauthorised vehicles;
- in front of rubbish bins, on verges unless signed otherwise, and at fuel stations during opening hours, up to 5 m before and after the pumps.
Other rules
In built-up areas, trailers may not be parked when detached from the towing vehicle, unless signed otherwise (paragraph 3). When stopping or parking, the driver must take the measures needed to prevent accidents and use of the vehicle without consent (paragraph 4).
Fine under article 156
Breaking this article carries an administrative fine of 1,000 to 3,000 lek (paragraph 6). Under paragraph 7, the measures apply for every calendar day the violation lasts.
