Albanian Road Code Article 143: right of way and give-way fines
Article 143 sets out who must give way at junctions, roundabouts, railway and tram crossings and when entering a road. Breaching any of these rules carries a fine.

Main right-of-way rules
- drivers approaching a junction must take maximum care (paragraph 1);
- when two vehicles enter a junction or their paths cross, priority goes to the one coming from the right, unless signs say otherwise (paragraph 2);
- on a roundabout, priority belongs to traffic moving on the roundabout (paragraph 2);
- at railway and tram crossings, vehicles on rails have priority unless signs say otherwise (paragraph 3);
- where priority is set by signs, drivers must give way to other vehicles (paragraph 4).
Full stop and entering the road
Where the competent authority has required it and signs show it, drivers must come to a complete stop, down to a speed of 0, before the stop line and before entering the junction (paragraph 5).
When entering a road from areas not open to public traffic, drivers must stop and give way to traffic on the road (paragraph 6). It is forbidden to occupy a junction or a railway or tram crossing if the driver cannot continue and clear the area quickly (paragraph 7).
Fine and additional measures
Breaching any provision of article 143 carries a fine of 5,000 to 8,000 lek (paragraph 10).
If the same person commits such a breach at least twice within 12 months, the last breach brings a licence suspension of 6 to 12 months and loss of points (paragraph 11). If failure to give way is identified as the breach in an accident with material damage, the driver at fault also loses points in addition to the paragraph 10 fine (paragraph 12).
