Albanian road code Article 178: documents a driver must carry
Article 178 of the Albanian Road Code lists the documents a driver must have on board and sets the fine for driving without them.

Documents you must carry (paragraph 1)
- the vehicle registration certificate;
- a driving licence valid for the vehicle category;
- the authorisation to practise driving (autorizimi për ushtrimin e drejtimit) for the relevant category, plus an identity document;
- the technical inspection document, for road transport vehicles;
- the compulsory insurance certificate.
Other cases
A driving instructor must carry a licence and a professional qualification certificate (paragraph 2). Permits are required for the uses in articles 81 to 84, for adapted or exceptional vehicles and for vehicles on trial runs (paragraphs 3 and 4). A moped rider must carry the certificate of conformity and a valid ID showing their age (paragraph 6).

- breaching the provisions of this article: 250 to 1,000 lek, plus administrative detention of the vehicle (paragraph 7);
- failing without good reason to appear at a police office within the set time when asked, to give information or documents: 2,500 to 10,000 lek (paragraph 8).
